Kommune launches permanent pop-up cinema

Pop-up cinema specialist Urban Entertainment is collaborating with Kommune to bring a permanent pop-up cinema to the heart of Sheffield’s old city centre.

The launch will be on Sunday 26 May, with film screenings every Sunday evening from then on. Kommune is offering the people of Sheffield the choice to decide which film will kick off its weekly programme. Head over to Kommune’s Instagram to cast your vote on your favourite from a choice of four: The Big Lebowski, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Goonies or Grand Budapest Hotel.

Sheffield-based Urban Entertainment has been putting pop-up cinemas in places across the globe for the last eight years including parks, stadiums, school halls, car parks, exhibition conventions, lakes, gardens and more.

Each week there will be a varied line-up of movies from old school classics and musical hits to action and rom-coms. Naturally, there will be an extensive range of street food to choose from during screenings, as well as discounts on drinks a the bar too.

The Urban Kommune Cinema will run every Sunday night at 7pm and tickets will be available on Eventbrite in advance or on the door (numbers permitting).
