Gatecrasher in talks to take over city centre venue
Sheffield club night Gatecrasher is in talks to take over city centre venue Area, with the Burgess Street club making the announcement on Facebook today.
Organisers at Area said: “Gatecrasher are in talks to take over Area Sheffield relaunching as a new event space from September 2018. The event space will feature enhanced sound, enhanced lighting and a host of new weekly sessions and special events.
“The 2,000 capacity venue, which has been the home of Gatecrasher since 2016, will now be closed for the remainder of the summer while Gatecrasher make these new developments to the venue.”
“Details of the relaunch and the updated programme of events will be coming very soon! Stay tuned! All confirmed events from September onwards will still remain in place.”
Gatecrasher One was a legendary nightclub in Sheffield back in the late 1990s, early 2000s. The club caught fire and collapsed in 2007, marking the end of Gatecrasher in Sheffield until it returned as a club night at Area on Burgess Street.
