Forge Bakehouse launches crowdfunding campaign

Forge Bakehouse have launched a crowdfunder to extend/expand their Abbeydale Road bakery.

Their goal of £25,000 will be used to build a temperature controlled prep room, complete with a walk in chiller and freezer. The owner, Martha Brown, explains that the bakers need more space to carry out their already challenging jobs. She tells us: “Over the last year we’ve gotten a lot busier, but the space has stayed the same. It’s become hard to meet the demands.”

A third of the money required to make the expansion has already been made, but they are now asking for support from their customers to help raise the extra funds.

Rewards are being offered in return for donations, including merchandise, food hampers and baking masterclasses. There is even a reward of a lifetime supply of bread for the most generous backer.

The money will also help maintain the bakery’s once-a-week pop up shop at Sheffield Train Station, allowing them to add extra days and keep the stall stocked up for longer.
