Music Shall Overcome

Barnsley musicians and promoters to raise money for local foodbanks in nationwide campaign – We Shall Overcome

In an attempt to show solidarity and to offer practical support to those affected by austerity cuts, ‘We Shall Overcome’ aims to display a series of volunteer organised local events over the weekend of 2nd-4th October.

Organised by Jason White, Chris Sammon and Chris Scarfe, Barnsley’s the event will take place at the award-winning Barnsley Rock & Blues Venue over three days to help raise money for the city’s foodbank charities. White told Exposed: “We have a great line-up so far and we aren’t finished announcing acts either. Whether you are into rock, pop, acoustic or even something a little harder and more thought-provoking, we have it.”

Saturday 3rd October will see a selection of Barnsley’s finest rock, indie and acoustic acts perform over ten hours over two stages.. Acts already confirmed include: Black Vines, Carvorts, Mad Dogs & Englishmen and The Richard Kitson Blues Trio.
Whereas Sunday 4th October will see the stages host over six hours of ‘songs of protest, rebellion and revolution’ that sees performances from such names as The Orphans, System of Hate, Serious Sam Barrett and Mark Jackson’s Criminal Waste of Talent.
