The Dough Rollers @ Maida Vale
A filthy, bluesy rock n’roll powerhouse quartet – The Dough Rollers, like their name suggests they rolled into ComRock/ModForIt with an elevating stage presence, counter-culture rebellion and a suit that could reckon with The Flying Burrito Brothers.
After last year’s release of their EP Gone Baby Gone, produced by Jack White’s Third Man Records, the guys decided to hop over the pond from NYC to showcase their new material.
Two sore-thumb-stand-out songs that noted the audience singing along was the wistful ‘Mansion on a hill’ and popular earthy tune ‘Friend of Mine’.
The Dough Rollers continued to give a riff orientated, beat induced toe-tapping repertoire of songs new and old, ranging from delightful melancholia to troubled euphoria.
The influences of nostalgic country blues, crooner generation and gritty rock n’roll were striking throughout the set, leaving a crowded audience thriving and eager for more.
