Best Friends @ Devonshire Green
Review of Best Friends at Devonshire Green at Tramlines.
As hundreds of festivalgoers stormed through the gates of Dev Green, local four-piece Best Friends took to the stage, unleashing a culmination of fuzzy riffs and flowery melodies.
“What’s up Tramlines?! We’re Best Friends and we’re from Sheffield,” yelled front man Lewis Sharman, before propelling into recent hit ‘Fake Spit’. Energy levels remained high throughout the half hour set, with bassist Ed Crisp jolting back and forth and frantically circling his thick long hair. The quartet’s sun-drenched sound tied in with the evening’s searing weather, combining to create the perfect soundtrack. A clear love for their trade was apparent, as the group took every opportunity to bound across the stage and actively engage with the rapidly expanding crowd before them. ‘Dude Love’ and ‘Orange Juice’ from their self-titled 2014 effort rounded things off, demonstrating the pinnacle of their musical capabilities.
