5 Sheffield gigs you may not know about this week
Mulberry Tavern // October 21 // £4
Having recently played their last gig at Festivile, local Sheffield band Dead Harts felt this wasn’t enough and wanted to give Sheffield a truly intimate goodbye. Supporting are some of the best bands on the hardcore/metal scene including Austrian hardcore five-piece Show Your Teeth and metalheads Sworn To Oath, as well as Carbine and Far From Home; a night of chaotic energy awaits.
The Leadmill // October 21 // £8
Bringing new noise to the scene in 2015 with their debut single ‘Ladybird’, you can catch these up and comers for less than a tenner this week. Mashing together a whole load of genres, expect a smattering of indie pop guitars, some hazy psychedelics, 90s sounds and a dash of 80s new wave.
The Rocking Chair // October 22 // £7
Post EP release, this four-piece Wakefield-based band has just kicked off their European tour, and we are excited to welcome them to the Steel City. Hitting the cosy confines of The Rocking Chair on Saturday, expect to swoon to their soulful vocals and heartfelt lyrics.
Yellow Arch Studios // October 23 // £5 adv, £7 OTD
This Sunday Yellow Arch will be hosting a Big Band Jazz extravaganza, with headline act Langsett Dance Orchestra bringing you the usual jazz standards as well as a big-band arrangement of dance tunes from the likes of Stevie Wonder, ABBA, Wham and more. Irish singer-song writer Niamh Kavanagh will also be performing as special guest support. Delicious fire wood pizzas will be served throughout the night to keep you on your toes.
Picture House Social // October 24 // £8
With the release of their debut album Alas Salvation earlier this month, YAK are rapidly dominating the alternative music scene and becoming one of the UK’s most thrilling live bands. Having toured previously with The Last Shadow Puppets, the London-based trio are set to take their own tour nationwide, hitting Sheffield’s Picture House Social on Monday.
