Japanese food wizards Edo Sushi are launching their first event in Cutlery Works, and it’s a boozy one too.
Take your tastebuds on a journey to Japan at Edo’s saké and food pairing evening where you’ll be the first to sample their exclusive range of quality saké ahead of their new drinks menu launch at Cutlery Works this summer.
The different types of saké will be respectively paired with delectable Japanese tapas dishes from the Edo Sushi kitchen based on flavours and textures to bring out the umami taste.
“Our aim is to introduce the people of Sheffield to the wonderful world of saké by guiding our guests through this sensory experience. You’ll learn about the history, how it’s made, what types of saké compliments what types of food and much more!”, said co-owner Tomo Hasegawa.
So ‘what is saké?’ I hear you ask. Well my dear readers, it’s a Japanese alcoholic beverage made by fermenting rice. It can be served chilled, at room temperature or heated depending on the type of saké and the season.
The taste profile can vary widely as there are so many different types, but if you enjoy wine, we reckon you’ll like saké too.
The session will be led by saké sommelier Hiroko Nishitani who will be introducing the collection and sharing her expert knowledge for the event exclusively.
What to expect:
– Expert knowledge and guidance from a saké sommelier
– Kubota saké towel (used for polishing glasses or you can wear it around your head!)
