There are a lot of summer babies out there, why not celebrate with a bespoke cake homemade by one of these talented bakers?
Something elegant…
As part of the team over at Marmadukes, Becca Elizabeth is no stranger to stunning food. Her ethos is to make cakes for clients ‘as special as those who inspire them’, and given the quality of the pieces she creates, it isn’t difficult to see why she’s on our list. She doesn’t believe in working with fondant, instead favouring sleek lines and delicate, simplistic piping designs with buttercream and ganache. We dare you to scroll through her Insta pics without drooling!

Something inspired…
You can find samples of the wonderfully tasty sweet treats from Kelham Cakery at local indie wedding fayres when they’re not busy making magic at the cakery. From a glimpse at their portfolio, you can see that they can go from a classic lemon drizzle layer cake, to a birthday cake extravaganza covered with multi-coloured buttercream, glittery unicorns, fondant fairies and all things magical. Well worth checking out!
Something chocolatey…
Spearheaded by Anna Sterling, Cocoa Mester’s bespoke creations are all about chocolate, with everything made using the finest of ingredients to ensure high quality and freshness. When she is not busy hand-crafting cakes of all shapes and sizes, she’s constructing petite delicacies for the masses. Have a gander at her masterpieces on the website, it’s not difficult to see what she is capable of…
Something extravagant…
Over at Torte, modern cakes are what it’s all about. Winner of several awards, Beth (formerly of Cakes by Beth in Manchester), is the apron-clad genius behind the scenes. Since opening her new studio on Abbeydale Road in January 2017, she’s been carving edible works of art for special occasions, with exquisite attention to detail. Their dripping cakes are a customer favourite, offering something a little bit different and visually arresting for those all-important birthday celebrations.
Something sophisticated…
As well as producing bespoke cakes, Oh Sugar also offers cake decorating courses, courtesy of owner Rachel Edwards, and is a proud wedding supplier of Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. Rachel’s all about the high quality finish, designing and creating elite cakes with exquisite detail and romantic textures. Art they may be, but each cake is specifically designed to tell the story of the client to ensure a fittingly personal service.
Something exotic…
Chinese bakery Cakelicious are known for their Portuguese tarts and patisseries, exclusively sold on their stall in the Moor Market. But owner Chris Wong and his wife also happen to create celebration cakes, and they’re pretty incredible too. Chinese cakes are often finished with fresh cream and topped with fresh fruit which is great for those who don’t like icing or anything too sweet! From Disney princess masterpieces, to their simple yet stunning rose cake, it’s clear these people have talent.
