What’s Christmas without re-watching your favourite film for the 547,000th time? This year you can make a night (or afternoon) out of it catching them on the big screen.
Pop-up cinema company The Village Screen is set to transform Abbeydale Picture House into a Enchanted Christmas wonderland to set the scene for a run of three classic Christmas faves.
It won’t be your run of the mill cinema experience, with Christmas trees, carol singers singing Sheffield-themed Christmas songs, falling snow, DJs spinning the best festive tunes and a few more surprises…
The weekend of the 16-17 December you can catch classics Elf, The Gremlins and Home Alone, all while munching on treats from local traders traders The Gravy Train, Pie Eyed and Cow Boys Burgers. And for those who would agree that the true spirit of Christmas is spirits, the Village Screen bar will be serving up festive cocktails along with Thornbridge Brewery beers, mulled wine and fizz.
As an extra bit of Christmas cheer, the event will be joined by the Catherdral Archers project, a charity helping homeless people in Sheffield, so you can spread some joy with a donation with your ticket or through fundraising activities over the weekend.
Christmas jumpers, blankets and other snuggly items are encouraged.
