There are few cities in the UK that have a pub culture quite like Sheffield. It’s a unique place, where the people are friendly and the ale is good. If you’re a drinker, of course.

Sheffield pub culture is epitomised by the artist Pete McKee, a man whose most recent show paid homage to the pub and what it means to communities within the city.

However, times are changing and pubs and bars are having to adapt, for a variety of reasons. One now being people are giving up the booze and on the hunt for non-alcoholic alternatives. Whether it be as a result of addiction detox, health reasons or, like many of the younger generation, understand the risks and never picked up their first pint in the first place.

The non-alcoholic beer boom is in full flow, and while many pubs across the city are still sticking with the one bottle of Becks Blue in their fridge as a 0% option, many pubs are embracing it and providing a host of options for non-drinkers and, of course, those designated drivers amongst us.

So, if you’re looking for non-alcoholic options, here are five great Sheffield boozers for a booze-free beverage…

The Rutland Arms

The Rutland has become well known for its eclectic selection of beers, including some brilliant non-alcoholic options. You’ll find plenty of local brews, as well as many more artisan soft drinks available. What sets the pub above many others is its cosy atmosphere and more traditional look and feel.

Located in the Cultural Industries Quarter, it’s a must visit for any pub enthusiast visiting Sheffield.

The Sheffield Tap

Perfect for a pitstop, The Sheffield Tap is at the trainstation and has a huge range of non-alcoholic options for you to sit in with and wait for your train, or take away and enjoy a can on your journey.

It’s been beautifully restored and has comfortable seating, a good range of snacks and a warm and friendly atmosphere. It’s almost worth your train being late for!

The Greystones

Located in the leafy suburb of Greystones, the community is at the heart of The Greystones and its drinks selection is like its atmosphere, welcoming. Known for its live music and tasty food menu, The Greystones has a solid selection of non-alcoholic beers and is one of Thornbridge’s brewpubs, so you know it’s going to be good. It’s a laid back setting, has tons going on and has some of the best 0% options in the city. What’s not to love?
