Behind The Scenes: Exposed Fashion Shoot 2017

The Exposed annual fashion shoot has been based in some of Sheffield’s most striking venues, including former cinema Abbeydale Picture House and Curzon, formerly occupied by the Sheffield Banking Company. This year’s shoot was no exception. Thriving community arts and performance venue Theatre Delicatessen makes use of the building where Woolworths used to be, and is a great artistic hub in the city centre for local creatives. It was the perfect setting for us to decamp with cases full of gorgeous clothes from the likes of Cow, Sa-kis, Vulgar, Rocky Horror, Mint, Harrison, Alexander Joshua and Dr. Martens.

Theatre Deli is certainly one of those intriguing places in Sheffield that probably has a lot of stories to tell. A network of bizarre and strangely beautiful rooms on the first floor had photographer Timm Cleasby spoiled for choice with striking scenery for his shots, and we were all constantly trying to guess what some of the rooms were in their previous life. With its haunting corridors, sparse industrial beauty, and the contrast of heavy shadows and light pouring in through unexpected skylights, this building was a photographer’s dream. It was also an exciting challenge for me as I followed everyone around capturing the action. I particularly loved it when we took the shoot out on the roof of the building. That look was definitely my favourite as well; with our model’s gorgeous curls and vibrant pants, it perfectly captures the unconventional, easygoing atmosphere of the day.

Hope you enjoy going behind the scenes with me!
