Playground Exhibition Coming Soon to Millennium Gallery
An interactive playground offering youngsters the chance to get creative with the latest VR technology and digital toys will arrive at Sheffield’s Millennium Gallery this summer.
‘Playground’ is a week-long, free interactive art exhibition and focuses on experiences that merge physical and digital play. Brought by the The Children’s Media Conference (CMC), it aims to engage with the public and inspire local kids about the potential of creative play via a range of activities including VR games and new cutting-edge digital toys. Alongside this, it will also feature ‘Maker’ activities where kids can play and get their hands dirty with things like ‘electrical dough’ and ‘electrical paint’.
The CMC, now in its 15th year. is the UK’s premier conference for supporting children’s media and looking to provide a platform through which to discuss the future of children’s media and entertainment.
Sharna Jackson, the show’s curator, told Exposed: “This year, the Playground show is subtitled Music/Response” and looks to use this theme to pose questions such as “In these divided times, is music and rhythm key to cohesion?” and “How do we use sound to connect to ourselves and each other?”.
The free exhibition will be running at the Millennium Gallery from 3rd-7th July
