John Hegley and Mark Gwynne Jones announce show at Sheffield Library Theatre
On Saturday 9th June John Hegley and Mark Gwynne Jones will share words from their published works and from less celebrated sources in a unique event at the Sheffield Library Theatre.
Mark, winner of five festival fringe awards for Best Spoken Word, and John, an Edinburgh Fringe regular who has produced ten books of verse and prose pieces, two CDs and one mug, are set to share a variety of their work at Sheffield Library Theatre in June. Asides from their published works and less celebrated sources, such as diaries, letters and Daily News books, the pair will also be showcasing work that has been created less than 24 hours before the show.
This new show of comedy, poetry and song will be accompanied by a workshop on Friday 8th of June. Common Ground, Common Language will give people the opportunity to create new writing along with drawing, singing, eating, biscuits and dancing. No experience is needed, all you need to bring along is an image, photo, drawing or painting and tea and coffee will be provided. From this workshop the pair hope to include some of the creations in their main show.
One Particular Lamppost
You might not know it but lamppost D6359 is alive.
Hit by a car he leans to the left
and hums to himself during the night as he has no friends.
Except for lamppost D6358,
but that one’s faulty.
