Forge Sheffield: Filling A Niche
Exposed photoblogger Tom Plant explores the Sidney Street area around Niche – before and after demolition.
Sidney Street lies in an industrial and quite forgotten part of Sheffield’s city centre. Its landmark, the eminent Niche nightclub, has stood empty since it closed back in 2005; and the old buildings surrounding it have been left derelict for much longer. Despite the unappealing nature of the area, down an alley behind Niche hides a beautiful urban art gallery. Work from street artists such as Phlegm, Gosh, Phes, CoLor, Kid Acne and hundreds of other unnamed pieces of graffiti can be found here.
