Kelham Island will soon get a lot sunnier as the city’s first ever Caribbean Garden Bar is set to open its doors on Saturday 29 November. With a £500,000 investment, Palm will incorporate Sheffield’s industrial heritage with the vibrant spirit of the Caribbean.
The venue is being launched by Sheffield based Ascent Leisure, which takes the idea of a Tiki bar and raises it to the next level. The combination of designer drinks and authentic Caribbean cooking will be accompanied by soaring beams and sunset lighting to provide a genuine island experience.
Tom Wells-Lomas, executive chef at Ascent Leisure, said: “Palm will bring the heart of the Caribbean to Kelham. We are taking traditional flavours and giving them a creative twist that feels at home in Sheffield.”
To keep things authentic, Ascent’s executive chef Tom Wells-Lomas is teaming up with a Caribbean chef to bring genuine island flavours to the menu. Guests can expect classic Caribbean dishes such as jerk chicken and rice and peas with a Steel City influence.

The venue will be open from Thursday to Sunday to ensure a relaxed weekend atmosphere. Palm has also introduced its own bottomless brunch with a Caribbean twist, pairing island beats with a menu full of sunshine flavours.
Stuart Jones, manager of Palm, told us: “We wanted to create somewhere that feels like an escape where people can sip, relax and repeat under glowing lights and tropical greenery. Palm brings together Sheffield’s energy and Caribbean warmth in one stunning new space.”
The new opening also offers the opportunity for private hire, with flexible event packages including handcrafted cocktails and tropical decor to transport guests to the beautiful beaches of the Caribbean.
Amid Sheffield’s ever changing bar scene, Palm brings a fresh burst of life to the industrial heart of Kelham Island. To keep up with this new establishment, make sure to check out their Instagram (@palmbaruk) .
