Water Works

Next month sees the 17th Sheffield Doc/Fest opening with the UK premiere of Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work – attended by Joan Rivers herself and award-winning filmmakers Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg  (The End of America, The Devil Came on Horseback).
Heather Croall, director Sheffield Doc/Fest, said: “As soon as I got word from Sundance about Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work I thought it could make the perfect opening event for Doc/Fest. When I saw it at Tribeca, I knew we had to have it. We’re delighted to have the UK premiere of Ricki and Annie’s film and to have Joan Rivers attend with them. With almost 2,000 industry delegates, and thousands of general public, Doc/Fest is the best possible launch pad for the film in the UK and Europe.”
Joan Rivers –A Piece Of Work exposes the private dramas of irreverent, legendary comedian and pop icon Joan Rivers as she fights tooth and nail to remain the queen of comedy. Filmed over the course of a year, the film reveals a rare glimpse of the comedic process and the toxic mixture of self-doubt and anger that often fuels it.
A masterclass, The Making of Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work will also take place on Thursday November 4 followed by a further screening on Friday 5 November at Sheffield Doc/Fest. All screenings and events will be attended by Joan Rivers and the filmmakers and are open to public and delegates.
SheffieldDoc/Fest tickets go on sale October 4, head to www.joanriversapieceofwork.com for more.
