The Results Are In…

It's no secret that Sheffield has produced some pretty amazing music artists over the years. Between the eighties giants, mega rock bands and one hit wonders, it's fair to say we've covered all bases.
 
And now dear readers we are privy to some exclusive information. The age old question, do the public prefer bopping along to ABC or Arctic Monkeys? has been answered!
 
PPL, the body which licenses music played in public places, have revealed the top 10 most played Sheffield music articts in public and in the media since the year 2000. The chart has been compiled from data which includes TV, radio and online usage as well as songs played in restauarants, bars, pubs, shops, gyms and other public places, giving the chart the title of 'People's Chart'.

7. ABC
6. Pulp
5. Moloko
4. Joe Cocker
3. Human League
2. Paul Carrack (Ace + Mike and the Mechanics + Squeeze + Solo)

The top 10 was revealed on BBC 6music by Steve Lamacq on his afternoon show yesterday. Steve said 'Sheffield has produced so many fantastic bands. This PPL chart hasn't been revealed until now'.
