The Naked Famous

Aside from New Zealand’s third most popular novelty folk band, the Southern hemisphere nation isn’t particularly renowned for its musical exports as it is its booming wool trade.

This might all be about to change, however, with Auckland trip-pop quintet The Naked Famous.
Hot on the heels of huge success in their homeland and winning over the US music scene at Austen’s SXSW festival, the band have recently made the BBC sound of 2011 list and are heading for a UK tour in February.
Influenced by the likes of Massive Attack, PJ Harvey and Bjork and compared in the press to MGMT and Passion Pit, The Naked Famous hit the Leadmill here in Sheffield on the 10th. With a host of national dates and an incoming album release, now is the perfect opportunity to get acquainted with the band before they get seriously big in the UK.
