The Gadget Show Hits Sheffield
The Steel City gets a digital makeover as Channel 5's very own tech-squad descend upon Brightside Lane’s Practical Control.
Yes it's true, one of the quintessential student TV programmes comes to our fair city. To be aired on November 7th at 8pm on Channel 5 (and then on Dave at regular intevals in the future), Suzi Perry, Ortis Deley and the rest of the club were in town to record at electronic product designer specialists.
Managing Director of Practical Control Ed Holdsworth stated that he was delighted at the national exposure such a programme will deliver to his company. The wireless technology developed there, he says, uses "various radio frequencies that work from small centimetre distances up to 30 metres and allow people to track objects and detect when they are moving or missing. This has applications in theft detection, child protection, say, from wandering too far from their parents in a Shopping Centre to dementia sufferers, and of course the ever increasing threat of laptop loss and data theft within the security services."
Suzi herself remained tight lipped about the contents of the programme. "We can’t reveal too much about The Gadget Show’s programme before it is aired," she confessed. "You will have to watch it on the night to see how ‘designed in Sheffield’ made it to the big screen!”
