Take Me to Funky Town

Roll up, roll up…there's no excuse to be bored this February because there's an event happening to suit literally everyone's taste from funk and soul music to raving Valentine's balls for the kids (yes you read correctly!). So take your pick…

Queens Social Club

February 28

Craig Charles packs a lot of funk in his trunk – and he’s bringing it all to Sheffield this month for one massive night at Queens Social Club.

The BBC 6Music DJ, Red Dwarfer and Corrie regular, pitches up with his Funk and Soul Club on Friday February 28. Expect everything from roots music through to current club sounds and classic tracks. Support on the night comes in the form of Dan J & Mike O'Mara (Huddle) and the Thirsty Ear DJs. Make it a funky February, smeghead. Tickets £14, see www.harleylive.co.uk for more.

Roundabout: Yorkshire Quiz Night

Fitzwilliam & West

February 12

Providing shelter, support and life skills to young people in Sheffield, city charity Roundabout host a fundraising quiz night at Fitzwilliam and West this month.

The Yorkshire themed shindig costs just £5 per person to enter (maximum 6 per team) and includes a mini pie and peas supper.

There’s discounted drinks all night – and 20% of the bar takings go straight to Roundabout. Compered by Shaun Doane, of Everly Pregnant Brothers fame, it looks set to be a corker of a night for a fab cause – and the first prize is a £30 bar tab at Fitzwilliam & West. We’re going, so obviously that tab’s already in the bag, but it’s the taking part that counts… right? (*Coughs, losers!*). See www.roundabouthomeless.org for more.

The Cremorne

Saturday 1

Lion’s Paw makes its monthly return to London Road’s Cremorne for another eclectic night dedicated to Reggae old & new. Spanning genres such as Roots, Rub-a-dub, Lovers Rock, Dancehall and many more, expect purely pleasant vibes, a warm atmosphere and some eclectic mash ups ‘til late. 8pm, free entry.
