In the upcoming issue of Exposed, we'll be speaking to and showcasing some gems from Sheffield photographer Pete Hill, who was active shooting some of the city's finest musical exports during the 80s at iconic gigs spots like The Limit and The Broady. 📸 @indiahobson: "It seemed a fitting tribute for me to choose a photo of the Black Cuillins (near Glen Brittle on the Isle of Skye) because that's exactly where we'd be today if we weren't staying safe at home. Our work as photographers takes us all over the UK and beyond, but Scotland has a very special place in our hearts as its wild and rugged beauty appeals to our introverted, nature-loving souls.

We first took a road trip through Scotland in 2015 and it has been pulling us back ever since. We felt inspired by the breathtaking vistas, invigorated by the fierce whip of the wind, and despite not being able to travel there physically at the moment, we're swimming in our images and words from past visits; knee-deep in the textures and colours of the weathered landscapes and virtually riding a sugar high from imagined snacks of butter tablet and Irn Bru. Sheff artist and Exposed contributor @sallystrongart has been working on her first comic book, 'Post Punk', which tells the story of a former punk trying to start a new life while doing a food delivery job - inspired in part by the artist's experience in taking on a number of thankless hospitality positions.⠀

Sally told us: "It’s about being young and starting out and discovering that almost every door is closed, so you end up working a job which barely pays the bills, but at least it’s something. Since the lockdown this has taken on a new meaning: food delivery drivers are key workers and I endlessly respect them for working on the frontline. From my own experience, there is a judgement about people working in hospitality and retail, or as cleaners and delivery drivers. These jobs are hard and require a lot of intelligence, as well as thinking on your feet.⠀

Don’t get me started on how these industries treat their workers. I’ve been made to work 15-hour shifts with a 20-minute break, I have been sexually harassed, I have been paid below minimum wage, and I have been made to feel like I am responsible for the whole show yet also expendable because of a zero-hour contract. And I am not unique – many people I know working in these industries have had similar experiences.⠀

It’s those moments of kindness which stand out, though; like stepping out after a hard shift and a co-worker offering you a cig, or a customer genuinely, properly, asking how you are doing when the bar is 10-people deep and you want to cry. I think, now more than ever, it’s important to be nice to people working these jobs. Yes, it’s frustrating when your parcel doesn’t arrive on time, or that shopping now takes twice as long and not everything you want is on the shelves; but that delivery driver, or supermarket employee in protective gear who’s letting you into the shop one by one, are putting their own health at risk for you. Put simply: don’t be a dick and make sure you’re kind, as you never know how far a simple ‘thank-you’ can go."⠀

I love the way that it has captured two different kinds of fishers both working in different ways for the same thing. I was incredibly lucky to capture the pelican mid-dive into the water – it's not as easy on film as it is on digital!
