Seize the Chair at Xrayhorse
Xrayhorse are quietly building a reputation for finding the kind of bands you'll fall for in six months time.
Spreading their time between London (booo!), Leeds (booo!) and Sheffield (hooray!) they've been putting on nights for the last two years, moving Russian doll-like from the 'cosy' likes of The Stock Room to their current home at The Harley. This month's line up looks set to be one of the best.
Headliners Seize the Chair are fresh from a furniture fight with Radio 6's Marc Radcliffe and cite surf and garage rock as influences. We think they're a bit more nuanced than that might suggest but gosh darn if we're strugggling to find a useful namecheck. An AOR The Fall? Pixes meet Stereolab (they're on Too Pure Records)? You decide. This is their single You Who?
You Who? by Seize the Chair
Masters in France hail from Bangor and boast a nice sense of space in their sound. Here's their page on the BBC's marvellous Introducing site. And here's 'Greyhounds', which is probably their most garnished tune.
Also on the bill are 2 piece rock scuzz marvels, Drenge, who boast some lovely photos on their soundcloud page, and The Rubyjacks, of whom more here.
Supported by Xrayhorse and Xzodiac DJs, it all starts at 8pm and goes on til 4am, which is pretty early for The Harley, all things considered.
