S is for… Sheffield Eagles

I’m a rugby virgin and here at the request of our MD Phil – who’s not only taking my cherry, but has assured me he’ll ‘turn’ me. Good luck with that bud.
I’m a massive footie fan but it’s been a while since I’ve been to a live game – and walking through the (electronic) turnstyles (last time I went they were manned), I’m reminded of the buzz of live sport. There’s only one stand open but it’s a top vibe – enhanced by the fact you can take a beer to your seat. Stupidly sitting amongst the few, but loud, Halifax supporters we’’re treated to a trip-up by the eagles mascot and a bit of cheerleading ahead of kick-off (is that the technical term?).
It’s a nice evening – and despite my far from 100% understanding of the rules, you can’t help but get caught up in the buzz of it all.
Wrong night to go though – Eagles crash big time to their first defeat of the season 18.50. Time to drown our sorrows with a T…
