POUT and Proud
This month will see Sheffield welcoming the POUT Film Tour 2012 to the showroom cinema for a celebration of the best LGBT themed films from the past year.
The event will see six critically acclaimed films screened over ten days with vibrant African-American musical Leave it on the Floor opening the tour on the 4th December. POUT aims to explore a range of LGBT issues over the season, with the collection of must see films portraying friendship, conflict and acceptance.
While the opening film is energetic and exhilarating, the following screenings of Yossi (5th Dec), Romeos (6th Dec) and Keep the Lights On (8th Dec) highlight the difficulties experienced by the film's characters as they come to terms with their identities. North Sea Texas (10th Dec) tells the tale of lust and longing and the final showing of the season, Call Me Kuchu, offers insight into one man’s fight against Uganda’s homophobic laws.
In addition, the QCinema project in association with the University of Sheffield offers exclusive insights and interviews from those influencing LGBT film culture via online and mobile access.
