My Tasty Guide to Tramlines Food!
Well there's no rest for the hungry! Just as I'm getting over the madness of the Sheffield Food Festival, the next Sheffield event of the year lands on my doorstep (literally).
That's right, it's Tramlines times again!
The city centre will be an urban glasto for the weekend and living in town, I feel part of it just by opening my window. At times like this I'm grateful that we have the fabulous space that Dev Green provides. Not many cities have such an open space literally just off the high street.
Of course, I'm no music writer; food is my thing. So I'll be out there looking for the best of the food offerings and generally looking after your stomachs.
First up there's this blogpost where I'll run through the top food stalls at the festival.
Then I'll be tweeting away for Exposed Magazine. Look out for the #food hashtag – that's me! You might also want to follow me on @LoveToLiveToEat for all my top foodie tips.
So whether you're after a hangover curing breakfast. A liquid lunch or a quick meal in between those all important acts on the stage, I'm here to help.
Head to Dev Green and before you even hit the queue you'll find the ethical Holly Tree Farm. Predominantly a pig farm, they're here with pork burgers, sausages and the like. As the animals are allowed to grow slowly, they produce really succulent, tasty meat and I hear their sausages are exceptionally good.
There are also cupcakes galore with Fancie representing Sheffield Food.
Once you've queued your way into the green, you're probably gonna be pretty peckish. Thankfully there are plenty of eateries to keep you going!
My Top eat here is Liberty Grill. They serve up gourmet organic burgers and with beef, pork and veggie burgers available there is something for everyone. My favourite is the Liberty Blue with Danish Blue cheese, but the Salsa burger with jalapeños sounds good too. Using biodegradable disposables, you can rest assured in the knowledge that you're helping the environment as well as getting a tasty burger – value for money I would say!
More sausages can be found at the Go Fresh All about Sausage stall. If you fancy something different then there is chilli on offer at the Gourmet Food Trailer.
If it's a liquid lunch that you're after then make your way to the one of the two bars located at either side of the green. They have beer on tap as well as a selection of spirits available.
Should caffeine be more your thing then Coffee Works will be up your street as it sells the majority of coffees, including espresso.
Heading over to the World Stage area on Peace Gardens and you'll find fresh sushi courtesy of new sushi restaurant edo sushi. Go Fresh are also here and this time they're selling their ostrich and venison burgers. Silversmiths are also around as are old favourites Heavenlies where Lorna is there to tempt you with her healthy heavenly cakes and brownies. She's created a new range especially for the festival; cupcakes decorated in smarties, jelly beans and moam chews. One that will go down well I think!
That's all for now, but if you follow @ExposedMagSheff on Twitter I'll be tweeting updates throughout the weekend making sure that you all get to know where the top food is to be found!
