Learn, Create, Sell
Learn, Create, Sell is a brand new platform teaching new and applicable design skills to the unemployed in Sheffield.
Learn, Create, Sell is a collaboration with Hantu, a Sheffield-based international collaboration platform, and AALFY, a local learning provider, using the facilities at Access Space and the co-working space at Union Street.
The platform focuses on teaching new skills and has been working with a fantastic bunch of Sheffield based creatives developing creative skills and learning how to make products on a laser cutter.
Co-founder Zak Ahmed said “this has helped to unlock the creative potential of this group of unemployed people through an experiential learning platform and produce something positive to add to the controversial #benefitsbritain conversation.”
Each individual involved in the Learn Create Sell programme has learnt the skills to produce saleable products on a laser cutting machine, as well as being taught customer service and marketing skills. In addition to creating and selling produce, participants also gain a nationally recognised qualification in art and design.
Products created through Learn, Create, Sell are currently being sold on their website, and mostly include bespoke and quirky jewellery and art.
November 28 and 29 saw the launch of the first Learn, Create, Sell pop up shop in the Winter Gardens, complete with break dancing and steel drum performances. The store had a variety of clothing, art and jewellery on offer created through the programme.
