July Around Kelham Island

For the last 29 years Kelham Island has stood as a representative of Sheffield’s industrial history.

This July they’re holding events that’ll highlight their work and create a source of entertainment for all who get involved:

On Saturday the 2nd as part of the Sheffield Children’s Festival; ‘A Kelham Haunting’ will be taking place for anyone who’s brave enough to go up against the Ghost in the Machine. There will be several tours of the museum taking place between 7.30pm – 9pm when the Ghost comes out to play. Book a place for you and your family to find out what happens at the museum when all the lights have gone out. Tickets cost a maximum of £5pp. Head to www.simt.co.uk/news/tags/whats-on for more.

On Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st July in partnership with National Fairground Archive at University of Sheffield, the ‘Vintage Summer Fayre’ will be returning to Kelham Island to celebrate the Wake Weekends of the 1940’s. This annual event is returning for a weekend packed full of live music & dance, with street entertainment, a variety of vintage stalls, examples of living history and much much more. Highlights of the event include the appearance of the UK’s leading George Formby look-a-like, a 1940’s WARTIME experience and music from the legends of the 1940’s including the likes of Frank Sinatra.
