Josh Taerk at the University Terrace Bar

Pull up a coffee and enjoy the melodic rock of Canadian singer/songwriter Josh Taerk, who returns to Britain for a Coffee House Session tour.

Ahead of the release of Josh's new single ‘Casie’ on 9 December, he's playing a two week run of daytime performances in university cafes curated by Radio 1’s Huw Stevens who aims to bring live music back to university campuses.

“I believe in putting in the hours," says Josh, who tours extensively on both sides of the pond. "The more shows I’ve played the more I’ve learnt as a musician and as a songwriter and the tours, and the reaction the songs had, have definitely influenced my writing and how my album sounds.”

Josh is inspired by classic songwriters such as Bruce Springsteen and Adam Duritz. “I’ll never forget the night that I wrote my first song, ‘Smell The Roses’. I felt so alive, and I’ve been writing ever since.”

Smell the roses – and the coffee – at Josh's Sheffield gig at the University Terrace Bar, 1pm on 4 December.

‘Casie’ is released on 9 December and the Coffee House Session Tour runs 25 November – 6 December.
