Here's the highlights of industry goings-on from August 18th – 22nd…

NEW ALONE IN THE DARK GAME ANNOUNCED

Atari have revealed they are working on a new Alone in the Dark game, known as Alone in the Dark Illumination. We can hope it’s better than the 2008 reboot, which was a massive disappointment, not doing much justice to the core mechanics that made the series so popular in the first place. More details of the game are to be revealed at this year’s PAX Prime, so stay tuned.

SHENMUE HD REMASTER IN THE WORKS

No, it’s not being handled by Sega like you might think, rather a very dedicated fan of the series simply known online as ‘NoconKid’. These sorts of projects are rarely finished, especially with just one person working on it, but we can hope as it looks very promising from the work already done.

CALL OF DUTY: ADVANCED WARFARE NOT COMING TO WII U

Perhaps to the dismay of Wii U gamers, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare won’t be releasing on the Wii U, which is a bit strange considering the latest games in the franchise were released on the console, including Black Ops II and Ghosts. Developer, Sledgehammer Games, made it clear it wasn’t their decision, rather Activision’s.

EA ARE LISTENING TO THE PLAYERS…APPARENTLY

According to CEO Andrew Wilson, EA are ‘getting better at listening’ to players needs in games, which have arguably been ignored in the past. He states the company need to stop guessing what people want, and actually listen for a change. This will ultimately increase fan dedication and hopefully create games that are catered for an overall better experience. We’ll see.

FIFA 15 UK COVER IS EDEN HAZARD

Ahead of its release on September 26, FIFA 15’s UK cover star has been revealed as Chelsea player; Eden Hazard. His recent season during the 2013/2014 campaign saw him score a total of 14 goals and 7 assists, which surely influenced EA’s decision to plant him on the front cover.

500GB XBOX 360 HARD DRIVE ON ITS WAY

Releasing this month with no specific date mentioned, a new hard drive will be hitting stores, and it will pack a whopping 500GB. It’s already near the end of month, so expect to see it on shelves any minute now. It will set you back £79.99 – a good investment if you have masses of content.

FLAPPY BIRD CREATOR REVEALS NEXT GAME

It’s called Swing Copters, and will include similar mechanics from Flappy Birds, but instead of controlling a bird, you’ll take control of a small helicopter-man…thing through a horizontal playing field, complete with gates and swinging hammers to stop you along your way. Expect high amounts of frustration once again.

METAL GEAR REMAKE GETS SHUT DOWN

Unfortunately, the fan-made project of a Metal Gear remake has been shutdown by Konami. This comes as a surprise as the company were all for it initially, but for reasons still unknown, it’s not happening at all now. The progress made was looking promising, however the group behind the project are moving on to their own IP.

GAMERS DON’T DESERVE FEZ 2 ACCORDING TO PHIL FISH

In a recent Twitter post, Fez creator, Phil Fish, has said 'Seriously, shut the f*** up about Fez 2. never going to happen. you don’t deserve it,'. This essentially is a decision made due to the abuse he has received over the years.
