From The Vaults: Sintel

For your consideration this month, a Dutch animated film about a girl and her pet dragon that lasts 15 minutes.

And all those that have just turned the page are missing out. Sintel has that magic and charm that Disney lost decades ago.

Don’t be fooled by the fact it’s animated – I’d recommend any parent watch it before showing it to their kids. We showed it to our metrosexual Ed. and he bawled like a toddler with a skinned knee.

Made for only €400,000, which is intensely good value looking at the final product, it was part crowd funded and is an excellent example of a film made outside the traditional ways of financing.

The best thing about Sintel is how to get it. You go and download it for free. The FBI won’t be kicking your door down because it’s OK to do so under the Creative Commons Attribution license. Download it for yourself at www.sintel.org
