It’s only bloody World Book Day early this month, and in celebration the guys at Site Gallery (that’s the one next to the Showroom Cinema) are putting on a couple of events to make literacy lovers foam at the mouth.
First up is FLUVIATILE, a collaborative artists book, which sees work from artist Lindsey Adams and poet Michelene Wandor collide in exploration of the verbal and the visual.
The event is centred around a presentation of projected images and poems which are reinterpreted by viola virtuoso Ibi Aziz as well as jazz musicians David Wickins and Liam Noble.
The second event is a little more low key. The Site Canteen will undergo a new look as part of an ongoing project and the celebration of World Book Day.
Over the next year they aim to build up a collection of books in the hope they will be read and debated and ultimately inspire people. Each of the books will be a donation from a creative being of Sheffield – the first of which will be Site’s patron, Jarvis Cocker as he gives up his favourite novel The Favourite Game by Leonard Cohen.
Both FLUVIATILE and Cocker's book will arrive at Site on the 5th March so head on down, and don’t forget the 2 for 1 Saturday offer at the Canteen on sandwiches, panini’s, salads and toasties.
