Flood Awareness Days

To mark the fourth anniversary of the June 2007 floods, Groundwork Sheffield are running three flood awareness days, in three of the communities located in high flood risk areas.

The aim is to provide information and raise awareness of the importance of being prepared for potential flooding disasters. Thousands of people were affected in the 2007 floods and many lost all of their property and had to leave their homes due to the damage.

This is the perfect opportunity for anyone who would like to get involved with tidying up some of Sheffield’s waterways. Volunteer sessions will focus on removing litter to help minimise flooding along with trying to help local wildlife habitats.

The awareness days are as follows:
Sunday 12th June- Kelham Island museum from 10am
Saturday 25th June- Hickmott Road Pocket Park, Sharrow Vale from 10am
Friday 3rd July- Winn Gardens playing field from 10am
