F is for… Farmers' Market
Sunday March 25, 12.30pm
It’s a sunny, sunny Sunday.Essentially, today was to be a day of rest, but not feeling half as rough as I thought I would from last night, I figure I’ll make the most of the weather and tick off a letter while I’m at it.
Nether Edge Farmers' Market is something of a Sheffield institution and my cabbie knows it well seeing as he lives in the area. Knowing the back roads, he drops me at the top end and I wander past the throng gathered supping outside The Byron through an assortment of food and craft stalls (be sure to check our foodie Blogger Clare’s overview of the market in her next blog).
It’s a lovely vibe – added to by a live street soundtrack from Albert’s Skiffle Band and some impromptu tap dancing. An ostrich burger and stroll later and our Mercury marvels transport me back into town for a couple of cheeky unofficial G’s (Guinness at The Grapes). After all, Sunday afternoon drinking in Sheffield is mandatory.
