E is for… Essex

Sunday March 24, 1.15am

It’s the launch night of Sheffield’s newest club Kandie (old Empire Bar)- and TOWIE’s Joey Essex is in town for a meet and greet with fans. Lee Smith is doing his usual sterling job behind the decks and a gaggle of people are attempting to crash VIP. Fortunately, a flash of the wristband sees me bypass the crowd and I find myself in the DJ booth having a quick catch up with Lee before moving into the VIP lounge amongst a bunch of Joey Essex lookalikes and giggling girlies.

Joey’s half-cut (hey, it’s late, he’s in a club, with his boys, yadda yadda yadda), so I can barely get a sentence out of him – plus our encounter is cut short when he launches a pint into a group of hecklers. Ace. Still, he’s happy to pose for pics with the ladies, so it’s back to the dance-floor for me to enjoy an end of night boogie before Mercury ensure I get home in one piece. Clocks go forward tonight too. Rats.
