Cubana Goes Live
July 2 saw Trippet Lane tapas bar Cubana hosting their very first ‘Cubana Live’ event – attracting a sell out crowd of 3,500.
The Latin extravaganza was one of four incredibly successful outdoor music concerts staged at the Botanical Gardens as part of the Rotary Clubs of Sheffield’s annual charity event Music in the Gardens.
On the menu was accomplished violinist Omar Puente and his eight piece Latin band Cubania – who arrived in style aboard chauffeur driven 1957 Chevrolet classic American cars (the kind you’d associate with Havana’s ritzy heyday). Cubana also made sure their stars were well fed and watered with a host of Latin American culinary delights.
Cubana boss Adrian Bagnoli said: “It was a fantastic gig. Omar and his band were superb, the atmosphere was amazing, and weather-wise we couldn’t have asked for a nicer evening. The people of Sheffield really enjoyed themselves and we were thrilled to be part of what was a very special night.”
Cubana’s involvement helped the Rotary Clubs of Sheffield raise an estimated £30,000 for local charities. Other acts performing at the four day event included The Keith Peters Big Band, The Dizzy Club and The Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra performing.
