Cop A Load Of This

July this year saw a fantastic new Delicatessen opening its doors in the Nethergreen area.

Salumeria La Coppola sits along Oakbrook Road in the leafy suburb of the city and belongs to Dave Mason. Mason had originally worked for West Yorkshire Police but, upon leaving his job, he was able to realise his dream of opening up the Italian style Deli.

His love affair with Italy began after his first visit to the country during his early twenties. After purchasing a home in Piansano, he grew an affinity to the traditional and bijou Italian Delicatessen shops and their relaxed atmospheres. Hence, Salumeria La Coppola was born.

Here you’ll find meats, cheeses, pastas and rices sourced from reliable traders – bringing a slice of the European lifestyle to Britain. Be prepared to stumble across food you may not have tasted before – like the spicy Provolone Piccante cheese and Ndjua Salami pork sausage meat to enjoy in sandwiches or piadinas. Everything can be vacuum packed for your convenience too.

Salumeria La Coppola also sells the award-winning Brazilian coffee bean, Bruzzi, as well as their soon-to-be iconic proper thick hot chocolate. But, there are still elements of British influence hanging off the ceiling in the form of flat hats – something Mason is very passionate about and sports on his head frequently.

For an intimate and personal experience, Salumeria La Coppola is a must-visit establishment – and the kind of place that’s easy to form close bonds with. A true hidden gem. Follow twitter.com/lacoppoladeli ‎for more.
