Block (and rock) Around the Clock!

The 50's was an era of innocence and naughtiness, swing dance and rocking music – an experience which the Sheffield Steel Rollergirls are bringing to Ponds Forge International Sports Centre this April.

'Block Around the Clock' sees Sheffield Steel's All Stars go head to head with the Lincolnshire Bomber Rollergirls, in what they hope will be a repeat of their victory last year. The SSRG Crucibelles will also be up against the Lincolnshire B-Team too, so a double whammy of rock'n'rolling and slipping'n'sliding is in store for this much anticipated county faceoff!

Roller Derby is one of the fastest growing sports in the world (again), and with SSRG currently ranked 13th in Europe just behind Lincolnshire's 11th, you can expect a real treat for all the family. There'll be  market stalls, face painting and circus acts as well as the bouts themselves.

The Rollergirls will also be raising money in aid of the Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice with a charity raffle on the day, with prizes including a £50 holiday voucher.

If your idea of a good day out is a bit of vintage fashion, awesome music and the bolshiest, ballsiest in sport action (with awesome facepaint) then we'll see you down the Forge on the 14th. Can you get us an extra large raspberry slushy, plz?
