B is for… Burly Q Burlesque

Saturday March 24, 8pm
Queens Rd Social Club is the quirky setting for Burly Q’s third birthday bonanza. In all honesty, I would’ve struggled to find the place, but our ('Mercury Cabs' – Sponsorship Ed) driver knows exactly how to get there and even why we’re going.
If you’ve never been to a burlesque night, I urge you to do so – and Burly Q is as good as it gets. If you simply think it’s about girls getting their kit off, you’ll be in for an initial disappointment (there’s actually three guys on the stellar bill tonight) – but what you’ll ultimately get is a grin from ear to ear and a night you’ll not stop talking about.
The evening kicks off with ‘The Queen’ cutting the birthday ribbon and room standing patriotically to the National Anthem before Red Sarah as Miss Piggy gives us a lesson in balloon burlesque (at the end of Act 1 she’ll re-appear as a bearded lady). She’s followed by Fred Bear (who treats us to his rendition of Bear Necessities along with an inspired interpretation of Flashdance), Mia Merode gets classy with a Breakfast with Audrey routine before a ballet meets burlesque performance, and Dinah Might lives up to her name with two explosive (not to mention hot as hell) performances.

Elsewhere on the bill, Kiki Lovechild shows there was no need to stop in and watch BGT with fantastically inventive cabaret turns involving a piece of cloth with a hole in it and a puppet – whilst highlight of the evening came in the form of headline act Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer, who took us on a chap-hop, banjolele, b-boy journey. What. A. Night. Not over yet though. Far from it.
Here's a cheeky glimpse at what the seductively enticing Burly Q has to offer. Hop over to our YouTube channel for more!
