Arena ready for another successful year

2010 has been yet another exciting and successful year for the newly named Motorpoint Arena (formerly Sheffield Arena), with the usual high profile mix of national and international events.
2010 saw the Arena launch Arena Ticket Shop – a one stop ticketing shop for all local and regionally ticketed events giving local venues the opportunity to put their shows infront of the Arena’s customers. And of course the 5 year naming rights deal with Motorpoint, the UK’s leading car supermarket, who made a seven figure investment into the city to rename the venue in August 2010.

This year the Arena saw Peter Kay make his Motorpoint Arena debut, playing 5 sell out shows in November and he will be back for a further three shows in January 2011, host TV favourites Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing On Ice, The X-Factor Live Tour & Britian’s Got Talent Live and the critically acclaimed Doctor Who Live and Star Wars In Concert shows. Not forgetting the sell-out shows that rocked the Arena including Lady Gaga, Michael Buble, Rod Stewart, Rihanna, Simply Red, JLS and Kings Of Leon.

2011 is already promising to be another bumber year, even at this early stage there is an exciting line-up of acts already confirmed and many many more to be added. 2011 is already looking like the year of comedy with a record breaking number of comedy acts set to appear, attracting more than 130,000 comedy fans through the doors to see Peter Kay, Russell Howard, John Bishop, Lee Evans, Alan Carr & Jason Manford.
Some of the 2011 highlights include: Usher, The X Factor Live Tour, Justin Bieber, the return of International Show Jumping with the Yorkshire International Show Jumping Event, Batman Live, Rihanna & Katy Perry.

Due to the phenomenal demand and the sell out of his first OMG UK tour dates, the multi-Platinum selling recording artist Usher has added a second leg of 4 Arena dates in February 2011.  Tickets for the Sheffield date on Wednesday 23rd February are priced £40 & £45.

The TV show may be over but fans of the show can get their X Factor fix when the Live Tour comes to Sheffield for 2 shows on the 1st & 2nd March 2011. Representing the boys will be X Factor winner Matt, along with Aiden, Paije and One Direction, Mary and Wagner will be showing the whippersnappers how it’s done and runner up Rebecca, Katie and Cher will be bringing a touch of girly glamour to proceedings.
