South Yorkshire singer-songwriter and old pal of the mag Rumbi Tauro is back with new single ‘Never Let You Go’ – we caught up with her to hear all about it.

Hi Rumbi – long time no speak! How are you getting on?

Hello, it’s been a minute! I’m doing well, really enjoying the summer. I’m getting ready for Tramlines Festival and I’m super excited to be back at Hillsborough Park. Otherwise, I’ve been busy creating new music, going to concerts and eating out – all the vibes.

Talk to us about your new tune, ‘Never Let You Go’. What can we expect in terms of sound and general vibes?

It’s soul with a hint of pop! Honestly, this is my most playful record yet. The song starts with the word ‘oops’, which draws the listener into this love story I have to share. It’s a feel-good summer track, perfect for the sun.

We’ve heard you were one of the first artists to record at the new Abbey Road Studios at Co-op Live in Manchester. That sounds mega – how was the experience?

Honestly, it was such an incredible opportunity. Yvan, the studio engineer, was amazing to work with. I just reached out to the Co-op team and asked whether it might be possible to be considered for a recording session there. As an emerging independent artist, I’m learning that if you don’t ask, you don’t get. Lady Gaga and Little Simz had the studio booked the day before and the day after my session – how epic is that?!

How’s the rest of 2026 shaping up for you?

I’ve got three new singles on the way. I’m back and I’m here to stay. I’m also curating events for emerging artists off stage, which is a huge passion of mine.

For readers who want to hear more of your music or catch you live, where should they head?

Head to rumbitauro.com for all the details. I’ll also be in Sheffield on Friday 18 September for the opening of the new music venue, The System.
