Last week, we told you Fan City could be returning to Devonshire Green if England made it through the last 16.
Well, thanks to last night’s dramatic 3–2 victory over Mexico, it’s official.
Sheffield’s biggest football party is back, with Fan City reopening from Thursday 9 July for the business end of the World Cup.

England booked their place in the quarter finals after an unforgettable night in Mexico City, holding on with ten men to edge past the tournament hosts in front of a packed Azteca Stadium. Jude Bellingham starred with two goals before Harry Kane added a penalty, with the Three Lions surviving a late Mexican fightback to seal their place in the last eight.
Standing between England and a World Cup semi final are Norway, who pulled off one of the tournament’s biggest upsets by knocking out five-time champions Brazil thanks to an inspired display from Erling Haaland and co.
The quarter final kicks off at 10pm (UK time) on Saturday 11 July, and organisers are promising another huge night on Devonshire Green as thousands of supporters come together to watch every kick.

An official Fan City spokesperson said: “England knockout games are always special, but after the drama of Mexico and with Norway now standing between England and a World Cup semi final, this feels like a huge moment.
“These are the nights supporters want to experience together and Fan City is built for exactly that.
“We’ve seen some incredible scenes at Devonshire Green and we’re looking forward to bringing that atmosphere back to the city once again.

“Whether you’re cheering on England, following another nation or simply love tournament football, Fan City will now be open for the rest of the World Cup.”
Fan City will remain open throughout the remainder of the tournament, screening every quarter final, semi final and the final, regardless of how England get on against Norway. The only match not being shown is the final quarter final on Sunday 12 July, which kicks off at 2am UK time.
Supporters can expect giant screens, food and drink, entertainment and the electric atmosphere that made Fan City one of Sheffield’s standout destinations during Euro 2024, when thousands packed Devonshire Green to watch England’s run to the final.

Organisers say more entertainment announcements, special guests and hospitality experiences will be revealed throughout the knockout stages.
As the home of the world’s oldest football club, Sheffield has always claimed its place in football history. Over the next week, Fan City aims to put the city right back at the heart of the World Cup story.
