Cricket Star Visits Sheffield Children's Hospital
1st Nov 2012
BBC Strictly Come Dancing star, or…as he’s possibly more respectably known, Michael Vaughn of England Cricket Captain fame, visited the Children’s hospital on Tues'dy to see the results of his charity fundraising
As a patron for The Children’s Hospital Charity, Vaughn underwent the mildly difficult challenge of trekking across the Great Wall of China, raising a whopping £215,000 which went towards the purchase of state-of-the-art surgical equipment.
Having supported the charity for over ten years, Vaughn was given a demonstration of the equipment, which allows surgeon’s to see a unique 3D real time map of the area of the brain they are working on. A bit like a GPS system for the brain, in lamest terms!
Vaughn, ever ready with support for the hospital said: ‘It was amazing to see the new equipment at The Children’s Hospital and hear about how our fundraising has made such a difference…the visit has really spurred me on to start planning my next charity challenge , so I can continue to support this very special hospital that we are so lucky to have here in Sheffield.”
