See Emily Play announces crowdfunded EP
Strong as steel, Sheffield singer-songwriter Emily Ireland is recording an exclusive EP to raise money for a truly deserving charity, Rape Crisis.
The piano-pushing, superlative-gathering musician became inspired to raise funds through her music and YOU can help finance what promises to be a really exciting project heavily influeced by her recent collaborations with Sheffield Chamber Orchestra at Tramlines Library Theatre.
Regular In Session chums G2 studios are recording the EP. Producer John Sephon took us through how they came to be behind the desk for the recordings. ‘‘Paul (Harris, G2’s other half) and myself were at the Library Theatre to See Emily Play because we were on stage with Neil McSweeney! I suppose we approached her because you put so much work into setting up and creating a performance like this but then it’s gone. This is a way to keep something from it and hopefully make a difference at the same time…’’
For a donation of £4, sponsors will receive a download of the EP once it is recorded, but more flush supporters can have anything from a song(!) to a private gig in your very own living room. We think it’s an absolute bargain with 100% of the profits from the project going to Rape Crisis.
