Octoberfest's Sporting Best
21st Aug 2012
'Octoberfest' is bringing our fair city three days of free festival treats in the form of passion, pundits and and igloos...
This October, BBC Radio 5 Live relocates to Sheffield for three days of broadcasting between 11th and 13th. Gasp! At the parade of celebrity presenters coming along to oversee events including Al Murray, Nicky Campbell, Simon Mayo and Mark Kermode, Robbie Savage and Colin Murray. Woop! As ‘5 Live A-Side’ attempts the Guinness World Record for most players in a 5-a-side exhibition. Blag! It as the ‘5 Live Igloo’ sets up in Tudor Square offering the chance to try your hand at TV weather reporting, radio presenting and the none-subtler art of football commentary.
There'll also be Olympian endeavours with the opportunity for audiences to take part in amateur sports events and become the next Jess Ennis. It sounds a little bit like Honey We Shrunk the Kids but with Sheffield and a radio instead of Rick Moranis and a bee.
