The Wired @ Leadmill
The Wired rocked Leadmill at their sold-out hometown show!
After reading about the success of this highly acclaimed Sheffield band, especially with their hometown gig completely selling out in less than 72 hours, I was intrigued to find out what the fuss was all about – they certainly didn’t disappoint!
Their first support, Adelphi, kicked off the show with a nice blast of robust Sheffield alternative rock with stunning accompanying vocals. As a result, their track ‘Firing Line’ has been playing on repeat for me since their energetic performance on Saturday night.
The Wired began their headline show with a roar of appreciation from the crowd as they leaped on to the stage. The spectacular stage lights came on to illuminate an excitable fan base singing and dancing along to ‘Don’t Settle For Second and debut single ‘Summer Sun’. Their sound combines dark bluesy rock with classic voluminous northern indie vocals.
The sound reminds me of Arcade Fire’s third album, “The Suburbs”, as they have a slight American twang about them, and peddle some dark, slow indie vibes. Although their recently released debut single “Summer Sun” shows a lighter side as they infuse the sound of surf guitars with bubbly lead vocals. The Wired are definitely a band something I’d like to hear more of and I’d urge others to catch them as they tour the UK later this year!
