Sarah Mac & The Milk, Forum 14.06.11
Fresh from releasing her new EP, “Everyone Knows” with Mixed in Sheffield, Sarah Mac is setting up her fancy new keyboard on stage in the Forum.
Sarah (pictured) has been causing a stir on the Sheffield music scene since her set on the New Music stage at Tramlines 2010, and has been getting endless rave reviews.
It’s hard not to agree with all the good press, as Sarah Mac demonstrates fantastic vocal range, considerable skill with the keyboard, as well as having a wonderfully endearing stage presence. She makes everyone in the room feel like her friend. This impression is carried through Sarah Mac’s songs, which have musical and lyrical resonance and her performance holds the attention of the Forum crowd.
She sets the standard high for The Milk, the headline band. Their sound is an exciting mash-up of ska and blues. It’s different, which is never a bad thing, and it’s feel-good, easy listening. The vocalist puts enough passion for the whole band and half the crowd into his performance.
Although the lyrics are less than captivating, their performance is tight and the music is catchy. The Milk create a definite buzz as their set draws to a close.
