Jim Jones Revue, Plug 2.04.11
Sweaty, Dirty, Filthy Rock ‘N Roll licks from a new school band with an old school vibe. Probably the best band you’ve never heard of.
The show at the Plug kicked off with a fabulous support act in Lewis Floyd Henry, a one man blues band whose voice had the Plug in awe and if it didn’t you couldn’t help but watch as this guitar player was also playing a snare and high hat with just his feet.
Then out came the boys, for the past few years the Jim Jones Revue have been a hidden gem on the festival circuit, their high energy 50’s blues style Rock n Roll show lends itself well to the small room in the Plug.
The Rockabilly contingent of Sheffield was out in force. As the band nailed song after song you had to wonder how Jim Jones can keep his wailing up night after night. Thundering into their new single ‘Dishonest John’ the crowd were warming up and the banter was in full flow.
They may have been without their long time Pianist , but the stand in guy’s hands were a blur as he squatted at the keys all night with just as much, if not more energy than the rest of the band. Start to finish the band didn’t miss a beat. Great to hear head bobbing, toe tapping Rock n Roll at its finest.
