Ellie Goulding @ Sheffield Arena
Emerging from beneath the stage exposing her enviable toned legs in leather hotpants and Dr Martens; Ellie brought star quality to Sheffield on the last leg of her UK arena tour, Delirium.
Despite her recent split from McBusted bassist, Dougie Poynter, Ellie was in good spirits when she took to the stage on Saturday night (12), commenting: “I’m in a really good mood tonight, Sheffield. It’s great to be back.”
Kicking off the show with upbeat hits ‘Aftertaste’ and ‘Outside’, Ellie showed off her musical talents on the drums between vocals and high energy dance moves.
Changing from an all-in-one neon catsuit to a floor length white dress worn with bare feet, Ellie picked up her guitar and went back-to-basics performing ‘How Long Will I love You’ and her cover of Elton John’s ‘Your Song’, revealing the gentle wispy and distinct vocals we all know and love her for.
The support act for the northern show was Yorkshire singer and musician, John Newman, who stole the show for many.
His soulful, high tempo set featured hits ‘Come And Get It’ and ‘Love Me Again’.
He strutted and sweated like true showman, taking selfies with the audience and even throwing his drummer’s kit across the stage in an adrenaline filled moment.
He told Sheffield: “It’s an honour to be supporting my friend Ellie and it’s always a pleasure to be up North.”
John Newman will be back on home soil in North Yorkshire for his own tour in June; but Ellie revealed she’ll be taking a break from music to enjoy time out for herself and her charities.
