The Street Food Chef
The Street Food Chef is located in the heart of the city centre, perfectly situated for work lunches or for good-value, quality Mexican snacks. Their ethos is fresh, wholesome, delicious ‘street food’ that’s as authentic as it gets. In essence, it’s fast food that’s good for you. From the minute you walk under their Mexican flag, you know you’re in for a lunch time treat.
The Food
The process is a simple one. Chose your meal, choose your filling, choose your salsa. I opt for the Chicken Burrito from the menu of Mexican classics with picante sauce (medium heat) but there’s Pica da Gallo if you prefer things less spicy or fiery Habanero sauce if you crave more heat. It’s a real mouthful – and the combination of chicken, rice, peppers, beans, sour cream and salsa transport you straight to Mexico. For just £3.50 it offers terrific value for money. Hearty, healthy, cheap and tasty, you simply can’t fault it. It’s also good to see they’re keen to champion local produce - the pork is from Moss Valley Fine Meats.
The Verdict
They’re onto a real winner here. With a classic Mexican menu, at fantastic prices, it’s your perfect answer to a quick, easy, filling lunch. They’ve also recently launched a ‘Beat The Queue’ option – meaning their fast food is now even faster (simply call 07876554481). Why grab a pre-prepared sandwich off a shelf when you can have a fresh, hot, Mexican classic made right in front of you to order for the same price? It’s not rocket science, is it? Viva Mexico.
